Dogs & Cats

When answers aren’t clear, we take a closer look.

Advanced Testing to Diagnose Complex Conditions

When your pet has ongoing symptoms, isn’t improving, or something just doesn’t feel right, advanced diagnostics help us understand what’s really going on.

We use a combination of in-depth testing and internal medicine expertise to look beyond surface symptoms and identify the root causes for your pet. This allows us to move from guessing to knowing and from general care to a more targeted plan.

Advanced diagnostic services may include:

  • Comprehensive bloodwork and lab testing
  • Digital X-rays (radiographs) and imaging for dogs and cats
  • Urinalysis and fecal testing
  • Thyroid and hormone testing
  • Infectious disease testing (heartworm, tick-borne diseases)
  • Skin and ear cytology
  • Biopsy and pathology testing

We also care for pets with chronic conditions, helping manage disease and support quality of life over time.

Conditions we commonly evaluate and manage include:

  • Chronic vomiting or diarrhea
  • Unexplained weight loss or changes in appetite
  • Kidney disease and liver disease
  • Diabetes and endocrine disorders
  • Allergies and chronic skin conditions
  • Respiratory issues or persistent coughing
  • Urinary issues or recurrent infections

Getting to an accurate diagnosis helps us create a more personalized and effective treatment plan for your pet.

Our Advice for Finding Answers and Catching Issues Early

If your pet’s symptoms are ongoing, getting worse, or not improving, it’s worth taking a closer look. Small changes in appetite, energy, weight, or behavior, can be early signs of something deeper. Advanced diagnostics testing helps us catch issues sooner, manage them more effectively, and give you clearer answers.

Even when your pet seems healthy, baseline testing can be helpful. Knowing what’s normal for your pet makes it easier to spot changes early and respond quickly If something shifts.

We’ll guide you through each step, explain what we’re looking for, and help you feel confident in every decision.

Common Pet Parent Diagnostic & Internal Medicine Questions

Advanced diagnostics are recommended when symptoms persist, worsen, or don’t respond to initial treatment, or when we need a clearer picture to make an accurate diagnosis.

Most tests, like bloodwork or urine testing, don’t require sedation. Some imaging or procedures may, depending on your pet’s comfort and safety.

Some results are available the same day, while others, like specialized lab tests or biopsies, may take a few days. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

Diagnostic testing helps us identify the underlying cause of your pet’s symptoms so we can treat it accurately. It also gives us a baseline, making it easier to detect changes early and respond more quickly if something develops later.
