Clark's Bark: Why My Smile Matters. A Bite Club Message from Clark.
By Dr. Andrea Johnson + Clark
Hi friends. It’s me — Clark, your Chief Happiness Officer and proud member of Bite Club.
I have a big smile.
I use it to greet you, carry toys, and occasionally steal socks.
But my teeth? They’re not just for being adorable.
They’re part of my health — and I need your help to protect them. And to protect them for all the other dogs and cats we take care of at PetVet365.
Dental Pain Is Quiet (But It’s Still Pain)
Here’s something important about pets like me:
We don’t complain.
We don’t point.
We don’t say, “Hey, my mouth hurts.”
We just… adapt.
We chew on one side.
We eat slower.
We stop playing tug.
We lick our lips and hope it passes.
Dental disease can hurt for a long time before anyone notices. And by the time it’s obvious, it’s often already affecting more than just our mouths.
My Mouth Is Connected to Everything Else
When my teeth aren’t healthy, it doesn’t just stay in my mouth.
It can affect:
My heart
My kidneys
My overall comfort and energy
My mood (yes, even golden retrievers get grumpy)
That’s why Bite Club matters.
It’s not about “just a cleaning.”
It’s about helping me live longer, happier, pain-free days.
What Helps Humans Understand (From a Dog Who Listens)
I hear a lot of conversations between you and pet parents. And I’ve noticed something:
When you talk about teeth like they’re optional, humans treat them that way.
But when you talk about dental health like it’s part of whole-body care, they listen differently.
What works best from my side of the leash:
Show, don’t just tell (pictures help humans a lot)
Connect teeth to pain relief, not just tartar
Use simple words — scary terms can shut people down
Share what you see, because they trust your expertise
Lead with empathy — many humans feel guilty when they learn they didn’t know
When you explain dental care as protection, not punishment, humans lean in instead of pulling back.
Why Your Voice Matters So Much
I can’t explain my mouth pain to my humans.
You do that for me.
Every time you take an extra minute to explain why dental health matters…
Every time you reassure a nervous pet parent…
Every time you advocate for preventive care…
You’re speaking for pets like me.
And that makes you members of Bite Club too — the kind that really counts.
One Last Thing
Healthy teeth mean:
More comfortable eating
More playful days
More tail wags
More smiles that don’t hurt
So thank you for caring about something we can’t always show you hurts.
I promise — every pain-free chomp is worth it.
With gratitude (and a very good smile),
Clark 🐾

As Clark shared, dental health is essential to total body health for every patient we see at PetVet365. We also recognize that discussing dentistry with clients and pet parents can be challenging, and our goal is to continue supporting you in those conversations.
As we look ahead to 2026, with our lectures completed and wet labs still to come, this moment marks not the end of Bite Club, but a fresh beginning.
Bite Club is evolving into a true club for our clients and their pets. This will include engaging newsletters, clear and helpful dental health facts, and some epic swag — all designed to help pet parents feel like active members of their pet’s dental health care team.
In addition, we will be transforming our current Bite Club materials into more client-facing resources. These tools will allow you to show, not just tell, clients how periodontal disease progresses over time when left untreated — and how preventive dental cleanings can spare their pets years of pain and discomfort. As Clark noted, this pain often remains hidden in plain sight.
We will continue our every-other-week Bite Club Champions calls to support our teams with the latest information and hospital metrics.
We are excited to see this program continue to grow and mature. Together, we are fully capable of adding quality years to our patients’ lives through timely, routine dental care.
2025 Wrap Up from the Professional Relations Team
Contributed by Dr. Jen Locke
Greetings from the Professional Relations Team!
We are wrapping up a very busy end to 2025, with a number of key agendas in place to begin 2026 with a poised and strong recruiting presence. Our greatest 2025 successes highlight bringing a number of veterinarians into our amazing teams, and are working like crazy to fill some key open positions as we move into 2026. The successful growth of PetVet365 relies on the internal growth and support of our existing hospitals and teams, coupled with external development of new pods (along with new pod owners!) across the country. We’re excited for the opportunities and growth projected for 2026!
In our greatest internal undertaking to date, we have just launched a new system called Loxo, which will automate our personalized outreach to veterinarians nationwide, and extend our network to over 5000 veterinarians across the country. This will provide us with much greater opportunities for outreach, and allow us to engage with candidates by sharing our unique stories and experiences.
As we wrap up the year, we’d also like to send a great shout-out to so many hospitals and teams across the organization for being such amazing hosts to our 2025 externs. We know the effort and time that goes into hosting students and making their experiences memorable, so THANK YOU for all you do!
Finally, an end of the year reminder for our referral bonus program! If you know someone who would be a great fit for PetVet365, please send along their names! When we make new connections that lead to hiring new veterinarians, we are happy to provide a referral bonus for your participation in that effort. Hiring an associate veterinarian can fetch you a bonus of $5000; partner doctor hiring can reward you $10,000; and pod owners successfully joining our organization can bring a referral bonus of $20,000. So if you know anyone - even if you’re not sure if they’re looking for a change, please reach out to our team with any leads you may have!

Role: Partner Doctor at PetVet365 Plymouth, MN
Tell us about your pets: I have a 12 year old Golden Retriever named Cosy that doesn’t act her age and is the most food driven animal you will ever meet. She has traveled all over with me including most of the continental US and lived on St. Kitts with me during my time in vet school. I also have a 6 year old English Bulldog named Peggy that I acquired through my partner. Peggy has also traveled/flown on more airplanes than most people have.
Best Thing about PetVet365: I love getting to interact with my clients and pets one on one in our comfortable exam rooms. Getting to know my clients more on a personal level and being able to relate to them. I also love that PetVet365 is a Golden Retriever company!
What do you do daily that brings you joy: This is a tough one. I talk to my close friends and family most days on the phone. When weather permitting, I enjoy being outside in nature.
Favorite indulgence: Flavored coffees at local coffee shops and Espresso Martinis.
What do you want people to know about you: I love to travel. I have lived in 7 different states and 1 different country (St. Kitts). I have traveled to over 30 different countries and counting. It is my goal to travel to every single country with my partner.
Something you would like to give to others: Some advice that I would like to give to others is: BOOK THE TRIP! We are not getting any younger and travel can take a toll on the body - go see the world before it is too late. Also, always say yes to a Golden Retriever - you will never regret it.
